Blue Devils Finish in 5th Place in Both the Lehigh Valley Classic and the Roto Grip Keystone Quaker Classic During the Christmas Weekend

ALLENTOWN, Penn.—The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's bowling team was participated in two different tournaments the weekend after Christmas; their first tournament after the holiday was the Lehigh Valley Classic in Whitehall, Penn. (12/27-12/28) where they finished in 5th place out of 13 teams. The very next day (12/29) the team was back in action at the Roto Grip Keystone Quaker Classic in Allentown, Penn. This tournament ran until Monday (12/30) and saw the Blue Devils finish, once again, in 5th place but out of 10 teams.

At the Lehigh Valley Classic, day one saw all individual bowlers roll five games. The Blue Devils were led by Bailey Gipson with a total of 968 (207, 195, 223, 202, & 141). Her total was good enough for 14th overall. The Blue Devils also had three more bowlers crack the top 20; Miranda Norris (18th), Treasa Rost (19th), and Sydney Clark (20th). Day two of competition saw the team portion of the competition, and following the conclusion of day two, the Blue Devils finished in 5th with a total of 8,271.

The Blue Devils hit the road right away to travel to their second tournament of the weekend. When the individually competition began on Sunday, December 29th, Clark bowled her best games of the season. Clark finished in first overall with a total of 1070 and averaged a 214 through five games (226, 218, 222, 211, & 193). Gipson and Victoria Giardina joined Clark inside the top 20; Gipson finished in 12th and Giardina in 16th. Day two saw the team bowl 20 Baker Games. After the conclusion of the 20 Bake Games, the Blue Devils found themselves just 13 pins out of 4th place and walked away with their second 5th fifth place finish.

Head coach Kevin Wemyss was extremely proud of the way his ladies bowled and had this to say, "All in all a great showing for our growing bowling family. The ladies did awesome all week on some of the toughest lane conditions we see during the season and against some of the top teams in the country. Wonderful job all!"

Up next for the Blue Devils will be the Kegal Midwest Collegiate Classic. This tournament is set to begin on January 18th and conclude on January 19th.
