ADRIAN, Mich. - Facing the Bulldogs for the second time this season, the Lawrence Technological University men's volleyball team fell in three straight sets to Adrian College (Mich.) on Tuesday, January 15th.
Leading the Blue Devils despite the loss was the nine kills by Austin Cinci followed close behind Max Jewett's eight. Jewett led the night in points with 11 while Cinci grabbed 9.5. Jake Rajewski was a defensive powerhouse with 10 digs.
The game started off close, with LTU opening up the scoring with a kill by Cinci. Despite a 5-2 lead by the Blue Devils, the Bulldogs came right back up, capitalizing off mistakes made by LTU. While Lawrence TEch made a comeback of their own with kills from Rajewski, Cicnci and Landon King, the bulldogs won the set 25-17.
The second set, Lawrence Tech could not find their feet with Adrian smashing the ball past the defenses of LTU., However, a late surge was found in the hand on Cinci and Patrick Newell. Yet, it was not enough as Adrian pulled ahead with a service ace to win the set 25-16.
The third set was an all out dog fight, with LTU trying to push the game to five sets. The back and forth nature saw LTU going up 20-17 in hopes to win thier first set of the season. However, a four point streak came from the hands of Bulldog Noah Marcinkowski to pull them ahead 21-20. While LTU gained the lead again from an error, the Bulldogs secured their second win against the Blue Devils following a service ace and kill from the Adrian squad.
