Men's Volleyball Falls in Back to Back Matches at Michigan's Men's Volleyball Invitational; Game versus Aquinas Cancelled

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological University men's volleyball team opened 2020 and their season with two straight 3-0 losses in the Michigan Men's Volleyball Invitational Tournament. Despite going to play three games, the last game, which was to be against host Aquinas College, the final game was canceled. 

In their first match, on Friday, January 10th, the Blue Devils fell to Adrian College in three straight matches. Adrian swept away the Blue Devils, going 25-19 in the first match, 25-15 in the second and 27-25 in the last match. Max Jewett led the team with 12.5 points, while Zachary Markiewics had nine kills. Jake Rajewski had 14 digs on the night. Defensively, Austin Cinci led the team with three big time blocks.

In the second match, Siena Heights won in the same fashion as Adrian did, dominating the first two matches and sizzling out but pulling out the win in the third match. The first match saw the Saints dominating 25-10, with the second going closer with 26-16 and the last match with the Blue Devils rallied on, narrowly falling 25-23 from a kill from that of the Saints. Despite this loss, Narkiewicz had another nine kills and grabbed 9.0 points, with Cinci right behind him with eight, ending the game with 8.5 points. Leading the team in digs once again with 11 was Rajewski.

Up next for the Blue Devils is a trip down to Adrian, Mich. to face the Adrian College Bulldogs once again on Tuesday, January 14th.
