Men’s Tennis Drops Match to Wayne State University, 7-0

DETROIT, Mich.– The 20th-ranked Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's team dropped its spring season opener match against Wayne State (Mich.) University, 7-0, on February 6 in Detroit, Mich.

Wayne State nabbed the first point by winning all three doubles. The duo of Taylor Vane and Griffin Mertz downed Alexander Tammaro and Alex Fernandez-Rajal, 6-0, Lukas Obel and Robert Saitov fell 6-3 to Niklas Karcz and Pierre Renaudie. Derek Sammons and Max Rink downed Alejo Godall-Tintore and Viktor Kolesnychenko, 6-1.

In singles, Tammaro dropped 6-2 and 6-3 to Karcz, Fernandez-Rajal 6-1 and 6-0 to Renaudie, Obel 6-1 and 6-3 to Rink, and Kolesnychenko 6-3 and 6-2 to David Solar. Saitov and Tintore-Godall lost for a double 6-0 to Vane and Mertz, respectively.

The Blue Devils will return to the court on Friday, February 15 at 1 p.m. when they host Grace (Ind.) College in the Franklin Athletic Club.
