SOUTHFIELD, Mich.—The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University (7-10, 6-5) lost to No. 22 University of Northwestern Ohio (10-1-6, 8-0-2) by a score of 0-3 on a cold November night at Blue Devil Stadium. The seniors were recognized at the end of the match for all that they have dedicated to the program over the last four to five years.
The first half saw the Racers get out to a one goal lead in the 11th minute. The two teams continued to battle for another 26 minutes before another goal was scored. In the 37th minute, the Racers went up two goals on the Blue Devils. The first half concluded with the Blue Devils down 0-2.
Lawrence Tech. played a much better in the second half compared to the first. They outshot the Racers seven shots to five, but could not find a way to get the ball past the Racer goal keeper. However, the Racers were able to sneak one more goal past the Blue Devils in the 86th minute and that concluded the scoring for the match, giving the Racers the 3-0 victory.
Ryan Resendes led all Blue Devils in shots. He was responsible for four of the ten shots taken by the Blue Devils on the night. Jewett faced five shots on goals and denied two of them.
It was a special night for the seniors, and Head Coach Will Dyer and the entire LTU Athletic Department honored the seniors when the game concluded.
The season is not over for the Blue Devils as they have qualified for the WHAC Tournament that is set to begin on Saturday, November 9th. The WHAC officials will be announcing the first round pairings for the conference tournament on Tuesday, November 5th.
